Kindergarten Overview..
The kindergarten year begins with the very basics and builds throughout the year. We start with names, shapes and colors, then proceed into the more complex skills of Early Literacy.
Unfortunately, the Kindergarten of today is not much like what most people envision when they think of Kindergarten. Texas is a test driven state and the requirements increase each year. The children now need to have a firm grasp on the majority of their letters and sounds by mid-year. Sight words now play a major role in our daily curriculum. Beginning reading starts here through daily literacy lessons and the use of emergent readers.
The year is concluded with a Recognition Program in which the children conduct the entire performance themselves. It is just amazing to see how independent they become as the year progresses.
