Testing Dates and Procedures

At the beginning of the year, all kindergarten students are screened with the Readiness Test.  This gives teachers the developmental levels of students, as well as strengths and weaknesses of the students.  The teachers use this information to plan instruction for the children.  Students who show that they have considerable needs receive extra help each day from trained paraprofessionals.  .

Students are also given Observation Survey II at the beginning of the year.  These tests show the teacher what the students know about literacy skills.  Specifically, can they identify any letters, hear any letter sounds, know some concepts about print, write any words, or read any words?  Teachers also use this information to plan for instruction.  Students are post tested at the end of the year to determine gains in these areas.  Campus performance objectives are based on acquisition of these skills.

We give the TPRI (Texas Primary Reading Inventory) at mid-year and end-year.

Report cards go home every nine weeks. Testing for report cards is ongoing and reflects Kindergarten concepts and skills.
