Kindergarten   Overview

This is a short explanation of what we will be doing this year in K-9.

Learning Centers

Through our Learning Center activities, the children will have an opportunity to work individually or in small groups.  Most of the activities will be in the form of games or manipulative materials.  Learning Centers meet each level of development, encourage natural curiosity and discovery, and provide for the uniqueness of each child.

Language and Math Development

Language and Math Development will occur throughout each day.  Learning Centers provide wonderful opportunities for each of these areas.  Also, your child will be given many opportunities for each of areas.  Also, your child will be given many opportunities to foster these skills through whole group lessons, as well as small group lessons.

Pre-Reading and Writing

Development of pre-reading and writing will vary according to the individual needs of each child.  This will be accomplished through phonemic awareness games, learning centers, large groups lessons, small group activities, and journal writing.

Handwriting

The D'Nealian Program is used in our district.
